These Timber frame Lodges in St Ives really showcase the use of Glulam as a structural element. We worked closely with the architect to replicate the design of three existing ‘pole’ lodges on the site, to allow us to construct using modern timber frame.

The 300mm diameter Glulam columns and deep Glulam eaves beams provide support for the large roof overhangs, keeping the exterior looking like a traditional lodge. Inside the vaulted ceilings and Glulam support posts have been hidden to create a clean modern look.

We provided our Thermo Closed panel, along with factory made insulated floor cassettes to minimise the amount of labour on site. We had a fully cut roof on these lodges with all the components pre-cut in the factory for site assembly. All the Glulam connections we concealed within the beams using fin plates with plugged connections.

Four of these stunning lodges have been supplied so far, with the fifth arriving on site in Autumn 2018.
