Timber Frame Design – Designing a Timber Home

We have an experienced team of staff here at Frame Homes, who will design the timber frame, roof trusses and floor joists.

As part of the timber frame design process, our team of experts and designers will communicate with the client or architect throughout the process to ensure that your timber frame package is tailored to your specific needs.

We will produce a set of drawings that can be used to understand the design, erect the building and use for reference after construction.

Our design process

The timber frame design will begin once an order has been confirmed and architectural plans for the structure have been received. We use the latest timber frame computer software, which ensures a high level of accuracy from design through to manufacture. The timber frame design will be carried out to a preliminary stage. The drawings will then be issued to the client for their review prior to the addition of the engineering requirements. Once this is complete, the design goes to the factory for manufacture.

• We use 3D modelling within our software. This provides details that are sometimes hard to envisage from a 2D drawing; and will give you a clear picture of the finished timber frame structure.
• Our timber frame drawings are BIM (Building Information Modelling) compliant so can be used with all trades to make sure that all aspects of our design work.
• Working directly with our fully automated factory, we send our timber take-offs and cutting lists to the saws as soon as the design is complete. This ensures accurate, fast and efficient assembly.
• We are always happy to answer any queries relating to the design over the phone or by email, and clients are welcome to visit us in our offices.
